Potensinews.id, BANDARLAMPUNG – University of Lampung (Unila) invited Lampung media crew to an Unila and mass media gathering event, at the Radisson Hotel, Tuesday (28/02)
The activity entitled “Synergy of Lampung University and Mass Media in the framework of Lampung University Towards World Class University (WCU)” was attended by Unila Chancellor Prof. Lusmeilia Afriani, Vice Chancellor IV Dr. Ayi Ahadiyat. SE. MBA, Dr. Nanang Trenggono, M.Sc., and representatives of 73 print, online and television media.
Prof. Lusmeilia Afriani, said that the activity was aimed to make Unila a World Class University (WCU).
“Our vision and mission is to raise Unila. All of that cannot be separated from the role of the mass media in promoting Unila’s achievements and excellence,” she said.
Without the role of the media, added Prof. Lusmeilia, it is impossible for the public to recognize the findings and innovations of the lecturers if they are not introduced by the mass media. She hoped that in the future Unila can work together with the mass media to develop Unila and Lampung.
The same thing was conveyed by Deputy Rector IV Dr. Ayi Ahadiyat. SE. MBA, that the role of the mass media is needed for Unila’s future progress.
“We see the media’s pillar as a very strategic partner and cannot be ignored,” said Dr. Ayi.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of PWI Lampung Wirahadikusumah gave input to Unila about functioning Unila’s public relations field according to its main duties and functions as public relations.
He considered that many media complained about the difficulty of confirming a particular matter concerning Unila.
“Public Relations must quickly provide a statement, as well as the spokesperson for the chancellor must immediately respond to issues that are rolling in society. Because so far there has been no Cover Both Side, it is not because of the journalists, but Unila who has not provided an explanation,” he said.
Criticism also came from Chariman Radar Lampung Group Ardiansyah. According to him, cadres of leaders emerged not because they were smart, but because they had been trained in student organization activities.
However, some time ago there was an issue that Unila was suppressing student activities, as if student democracy at Unila had stopped. He hopes that in the future Unila can provide policies to open wide spaces for students to be creative. “Because the formation of character is very important compared to the formal intelligence given in learning in producing cadres of leaders,” he said.
Meanwhile, Lampung Post Editor-in-Chief Iskandar Zulkarnain also said that Unila must carry out the second Tridarma of Higher Education by publishing the results of the research conducted.
So that Unila can give input on the process of sustainable development in Lampung Province.
Besides, he also advised that the abandoned buildings in front of Unila should not be left alone, because they are not beautiful to look at. He agreed that Unila is currently a world-class campus, but how to add teaching hospital facilities.
At the beginning of construction in the era of Prof. Sugeng, his party had ordered that this teaching hospital be completed. Then to Prof. Mat Akin, Prof. Aom, and now Prof. Lusi has to finish it.
In addition, the increasingly difficulties in fimding parking lot became one of the criticisms in the forum.
“I think Prof. Lusi can be the first person to move Unila to the wider Kota Baru area,” he said.
Responding to these criticisms, Unila Chancellor Prof. Lusi said, her party ensured that in the future the role of public relations would be even better.
Then regarding the Student Activity Unit (UKM), currently the old UKM building is no longer representative. So that her party has built a three-story building intended for the UKM secretariat at Unila.
“So in the near future there will be displacement to a new building, so students can continue to be creative and interact with one another,” she said. (Virgo)
